Our recipe for a sweet, genuine and authentic autumn

As the days start getting shorter, baking a home-made apple pie makes it easier to return to your day-to-day routine as it permeates the sweet scent of apples and cinnamon throughout your house. Here is our simple and genuine recipe in a perfect Marinoni vibe.

Ingredients for the pastry:

  • 300 g plain flour
  • 100 g white sugar
  • 125 g butter
  • 1 egg + 1 yolk
  • Pinch of salt
  • Natural lemon zest
  • ½ tsp baking powder

Ingredients for the filling:

  • 800 g apples
  • 1 tablespoonful brown sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C
Sieve the flour, the sugar and the baking powder into a bowl.
Add the butter and the eggs, the lemon zest and a pinch of salt and rub in until the mixture resembles a smooth ball, then let it rest in the fridge for about 15 minutes.

Dice the apples and simmer them in a pan with brown sugar and lemon juice.

Divide the pastry into two halves (one should be a little more). Take one half and roll it out so that it is big enough to cover a 26cm tart tin.

Cover the pastry with the simmered apples. Roll out the other half of the pastry and place it on top.

Press down on the pastry edges, making sure that they are properly sealed. Bake for 30-35 minutes.

Slide on to a serving plate, dust with caster sugar and serve as it is or with one scoop of vanilla ice-cream.

This simple and genuine recipe reflects the Marinoni pewter items that are understated yet able to create the cozy atmosphere that we look for when coming back home. Our pewter is genuine and handmade and we love authentic things!
